Can a diner reach the menu, booking, or order action?
Use this seven-point checklist to review a restaurant website and record the evidence behind your recommendations.
- Check the main customer actions.
- Separate observations from assumptions.
- Turn a finding into a practical next step.
How delivery works (state this on the page, per §9 “explain the checklist delivery clearly”): Enter your email and the checklist is sent to you right away. The checklist is yours either way — the product-emails option above is separate and optional.
What’s inside the checklist
The Restaurant Website Action-Path Checklist — before recommending a redesign, check whether a visitor can complete the restaurant’s most important actions. For each item, record: Source URL / Date checked / What happened / Recommended next step.
- Menu — Can a visitor locate the current menu from the main navigation or another obvious action?
- Menu Readability — Can the menu be read comfortably on a phone without repeatedly zooming or moving sideways?
- Reservations — If the restaurant accepts reservations, does its booking action reach the intended destination?
- Ordering — If online ordering is offered, does the order link reach the correct active ordering page?
- Calling — Is the phone number visible, correct, and usable as a tap-to-call action on a phone?
- Hours and Directions — Are opening hours, the address, and the directions link present and consistent with the restaurant’s confirmed information?
- Follow-Through — After choosing the main action, does the visitor understand what happens next?
Plus a Priority Worksheet (Observed issue / Evidence / Why it may matter / Proposed improvement / What is excluded / How completion will be checked) and the closing rule: use observed facts, confirm uncertainty with the restaurant, and do not attach a revenue estimate to a problem without supporting data.
